The baby of Society Coffee’s Karl Franz Williams, 67 Orange Street, takes its inspiration from Almack’s Dance Hall, one of New York’s first black-owned bars in the city. Mixologist Kali Irwin has been enlisted to oversee the cocktails, which are sophisticated and inventive. The space has been atmospherically decorated to give it an old fashioned vibe, think velvet curtains and flatteringly low lighting. A welcome addition to the Harlem bar scene, they also do a line in decent bar nibbles to accompany your cocktail.
