ABC Cocina

ABC Cocina is hot stuff. This Latin-influenced spinoff of Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Dan Kluger’s ABC Kitchen, it’s got a hell of a lot going for it. The room is gorgeous, a beautifully designed space, with the raw, bare brick of the walls juxtaposed with more elegant touches, white doorframes, mismatched chairs, vintage chandeliers and attractive LED lighting giving the space a fairy tale summer-house feel. Splashes of bright colour, hot pink and femme fatale red, break up the palette of muted greys and creams. The food menu includes lots of excellent seafood options, alongside an exciting range of tacos, rice dishes and, fried things. There’s also a wood-burning grill on which they’re cooking beef, salmon and baby back ribs. There are a few Asian flavours in there too. Dishes include a lovely light-sounding spring pea guacamole, crab fitters with ramp remoulade, fluke with green chilli dressing, and an earthy pairing of mushroom tacos with kale. The inventive cocktail list includes a spicy pepper margarita and a delicious fruit and fizz concoction. Grab a seat at the communal table by the bar or on one of the, we suspect, much coveted two-tops and be transported.
