The bar at this chic Danny Meyer restaurant in the Flatiron District recently scooped a prestigious gong for the best restaurant bar in the business. It’s certainly a dramatic space; housed in a striking art deco building the room is high-celinged and white-walled, The food in the main dining room is exquisite both in presentation and taste but it’s the cocktail menu we’re most interested in. Divided into light-spirited and dark-spirited drinks, it’s a thing of beauty. Try the Cantina Julep, a smooth concoction of bourbon, tequila, crßme de cacao and mint, or Matcha Flip, a vivid combination of green tea, cachaca and egg. Their Velvet Cobbler uses a recipe from 1862 and makes the perfect aperitif. Or you could just let the skilled bar tenders whip you up something special to suit your tastes.
