New York City-Midtown Manhattan

Despite its faintly retro-bling aesthetic (sheepskin pillows, Warhol-alike prints and Lucite chandeliers) the Inc Lounge has more going for it than just kitsch appeal. This cool, sleek lounge bar is housed in the boutique-y Time Hotel and is blessed with a sense of humour, a sense of its own excess. The brainchild of Ric Addison, it has a groovy vibe, which has proved particularly alluring to tourists but also to locals looking for something a bit different. The short cocktail list sticks mainly to the classics but occasionally veers off into more creative territory (see the Gin & Sin, a winning mix of Bombay Sapphire, Chambord, lemon and lime juice). The crowd is mixed, with a strong Euro contingent. An appealing spot to meet for pre-theatre drinks.
