The Arlington Club
New York City-Midtown Manhattan
May 11, 2018
The Arlington is something of a rarity on the Upper East Side, a smart bar and restaurant aimed at a more grown up crowd than many of the student-friendly watering holes in the neighbourhood. It’s a handsome space with high vaulted ceiling, black and white photographs lining the walls, and a mezzanine. The buzzing bar area serves quality cocktails, the lists divided into ‘stirred’ and ‘shaken’. From the former category comes their signature drink, a Bourbon-based take on the Negroni. From the latter, The Careless Whisper is a blend of citron vodka, grapefruit, elderflower, and cranberry, while the Sage Advice is an aromatic mix of scotch, Cointreau, grapes, and sage. We particularly like the sound of the New Dirty, a classic martini laced with sea salt and orange bitters. But while the drinks are a draw in and of themselves you’ll want to experience dinner here too if you get the chance. Their steaks are well sourced and impeccably cooked, and they also serve sushi if you want something a little lighter.
