The Rum House
New York City-Midtown Manhattan
May 11, 2018
A beacon amid the bustle of Times Square, the Rum House at the Edison Hotel is now under new ownership. The bar, a fixture of the theatre district, is not the same place as it was. Now by the same team as Tribeca’s Ward III, this is cut above the usual hotel bar, appealing to a wider crowd than you might expect. It’s unpretentious and friendly but not without style. As the name suggests the cocktail list is pretty rum-centric and they know how to whip up a textbook mojito. The room is attractively decked out with vintage pieces and the piano has remained since the refit, meaning they still play host to a splash of jazz piano of an evening.
