As with all the top Brooklyn hangouts, The Ides at The Wythe Hotel, is located in a former industrial building – in this case a cooperage. Brooklyn is notable for its uber-cool clientele and retro vibes and The Ides is no exception.

Its tiled floors and large Art Deco mirrors are sleek and sophisticated, without being pretentious, and the vibe continues right through the venue, including onto the impressive rooftop terrace. Think leather-bound banquettes with splashes of vibrant aqua and you won’t go far wrong.

While the hotel boasts a restaurant and an indoor seating area, it’s the expansive outdoor area with breathtaking vistas of the Manhattan skyline which are the principal draw. Considered to have one of the best views in Brooklyn, the crowds which populate this sixth-floor space are eclectic, to say the least. Kitsch and cool appears to the prevailing requirement for visiting The Ides and despite the refined décor, dressing to impress in the traditional manner is not a requirement. Kick back with a cocktail on a summer’s day and take in the stunning views with a drink from the well-stocked bar in whatever fabulous outfit takes your fancy.

The Ides at The Wythe Hotel offers a strong drinks list with a solid list of cocktails. Although the menu doesn’t include any wild mixology inventions, crowds flock here for the views and they are generously rewarded. A selection of food options are also available for those who fancy a bite to eat with their drink. Start the day eating breakfast with a view or swing by for a classic New York brunch at the weekend. They also offer a hearty lunch and dinner menu or canapes and snacks if you’re looking for something a little lighter.
