An outpost of suave Cuban cocktail culture in Nitra, Slovakia, Hemingway is dedicated to the expert art of the cocktail, drawing inspiration from one of the world’s most famous rum and daiquiri lovers; Ernest Hemingway himself. While many bars in the world use the dashing author as inspiration in some shape or form, Hemingway goes above and beyond the rest. First, the bar has been officially registered with the Ernest Hemingway estate in America, and has the sole license for using the registered Hemingway trademark in Slovakia. Next, the design of the bar looks like it was picked up in Havana and moved to Nitra, with dark wood paneling, green palms, colorful wicker lighting fixtures, and oscillating vintage fans all whisking you away to the Caribbean. Thumbing through the cocktail menu at Hemingway is like taking a tropical tour, with all manner of premium dark and light rums combined with fresh fruit juices having prominent places on the pages. Daiquiris and mojitos mixed with fresh strawberry, melon, and banana are some of the most popular tropical tipples in addition to a whole range of Tiki cocktails inspired by another warm and sunny place – the South Pacific. Vodka and tequila mixers are also poured with a particularly fun range of margaritas to warm you up on a cold Slovak night. The staff at Hemingway executes everything with the skill and precision of the best in the world, and in fact, have been invited to many international competitions.
