An Osaka institution since the mid-90s, Bar Agréable positions itself as an oasis in the city; one where its customers can step in from the frenzied bustle outside, relax, unwind and sip on any one of a hand-picked collection of fine liquors and aged spirits. Decked out in dark polished woods and sultry lighting, Bar Agréable is a veritable wonderland of whiskies, brandies, rums and hand-shaken cocktails whose cozy and inviting atmosphere feels more like an exclusive collector’s cellar than a popular local hangout. The impressive back-lit bar area features row after row of spirits that could make even an aficionado swoon, including a selection of whiskies from Canada, Japan, Scotland and Ireland. The compilation of “old bottles” are what the bar’s owner is most proud of, however; a range of whiskies produced between 1960 and 1980 and now aged to a smooth sipping consistency for your drinking pleasure. Among Bar Agréable’s other offerings are a stockpile of cognacs, grappa and Caribbean rums, as well as a fresh-and-fruity cocktail list and many top-shelf spirits. Food is served all evening long and features Asian twists on many international classics like angel hair pasta with tuna and cabbage and Japanese beef sandwiches, all served with a smile, just like the “agreeable” name would suggest.
