Lying to the north of Youngstorget, the political omphalos of Oslo, this tiny bar punches above its weight, offering as it does top-notch drinks and tasty bar fodder in suitably swish surroundings. Arrive early, though, for it can accommodate no more than thirty people. Once stake your claim at the bar, what first strikes you about the place is its fetching retro decor. Think orange chequered wallpaper, and lashings of chrome. Kitsch with a capital ‘k.’ The bar draws an interesting, not to say eclectic crowd. And no that’s not a euphemism for those of a knuckle-dragging persuasion. Instead, expect everyone from rockers, hipsters, spinsters, intellectuals, media types and a not a few who do not appear to fall into any camp. Good atmosphere, good music (if you have a penchant for indie) good drinks. To call it a hole in the wall would be to do it a great disservice.
