Inside one of Oslo’s latest, greatest, and most stylish hotels, Thief Bar is a study in mixology blended with modern art and contemporary design. Opened in 2012, the Thief Hotel immediately started garnering accolades as one of the best in Scandinavia, due to its unique harbor-side locale with views out to the famous Oslo Fjord and striking modern art theme. The hotel is no doubt a stunner inside and out, but many who stay say the onsite cocktail bar was also one of the highlights of their time there. At the Thief Bar, located on a mezzanine of the hotel, a jet-setting international clientele quietly mingles with hip locals while an expert bar staff mixes cocktails that take their inspiration from the world’s great metropolises. Flavors are bent and blended, resulting in some of the most creative flavors in this part of the world. The bar playfully uses its name to brag that it ‘stole’ ideas for its cocktails from some of the world’s best cities and their history, and this is just the tiniest indication of the thought that goes into their drink ingredients. As you would expect, the Thief Bar is a sleek space with glass shelves lining the wall and plenty of cool, quiet colors. Glassware is of the sparkling and vintage variety, each one paired with the appropriate drink to accentuate the tipple’s flavors, with some eye-catching surprises thrown in for good measure.
