Paris-Bastille and the Marais
May 11, 2018
A stylish drinking and dining spaces in the Marais from Julien Fouin and Ludovic Dardenay, the people behind Glou and Jaja, Beaucoup is very on trend. The former showroom is now a sleek social space, a light and bright if rather industrial room, with huge windows, high ceilings, long blonde communal tables and plenty of plush booths. They’re clearly aiming for a New York vibe though there’s an unmistakeable Parisian edge to the place. A brushed metal counter runs the length of the room and this is the place to make a beeline towards to sample one of their top notch house creation cocktails. The signature Beaucoup cocktail is a good place to start and the wine list is well worth exploring too. They serve a nice line in reasonably priced plates of charcuterie at the bar while the main food menu includes lots of lovely grilled things as well as some lighter dishes with the occasional Asian influence in evidence. The space has been tailored to appeal to the city’s beautiful people and this is reflected in the prices should you opt for the full restaurant experience, but the bar lets you be part of the scene without doing too much harm to your bank balance. In fact by all accounts the food can be a bit hit and miss, so may well be better off sticking to the cocktails and soaking up the oh-so-cool atmosphere from the bar.
