Candelaria does some of the best Mexican food in Paris! The Margaritas and Mexican beers are also something not to be missed. Find out more.

A true hidden gem, Candelaria, a popular bar, offers some of the best Mexican top cocktails and food in Paris. While the standard of cooking makes this place a destination in its own right, behind the compact but atmospheric taqueria, through an unmarked door, you’ll find a low-lit and relaxed cocktail lounge that’s offering some of the best drinks in the city.

This semi-hidden space is dinky and full of character, with its rough-hewn walls and candle-lit, cushion-strewn interior if you go when it’s a bit quieter it’s a great place to take a date, and it’s proved itself a hit with the younger, hipper crowd. Be sure to sample the superior tacos and quesadillas before kicking off your tequila-fest or maybe the frijoles or veggie tostadas? The menu isn’t extensive but everything is so tasty that it can be hard to choose though the portions aren’t massive, so why not order two? And it’s all made right there in the visible open kitchen, so you can see the chef at work and know you’re getting the real deal.

The margaritas are also worth a look and there’s a Mexican beer on offer as well, or order some of the tasty punch. The bar staff are friendly, so if you don’t see anything you like they will usually make up cocktails to suit your tastes if you ask nicely. Both the eatery and the cocktail bar are seriously on the small side, so you’ll need to arrive early if you want to be sure of snagging a seat. Sometimes they even squeeze a DJ in there, upping the hip factor to the next level.
