Septime La Cave
Paris-Bastille and the Marais
May 11, 2018
This tiny and we mean tiny wine shop and bar is the little sister to the popular Septime and is located right across the street in a former shoe shop with a magnificently ravaged wooden facade.
Inside, the minimally decorated room is lined with shelves of bottles to buy and there are a handful of places to perch, sip and sample the wares.
There’s a huge selection of wines to choose from, the mark ups reasonable very reasonable in fact given the quality – and the staff are friendly and happy to help.
If you fancy pairing some snacks with your glass (or bottle) of wine they serve a small but excellent range of snacks and small sharing plates: cheese and charcuterie in the main.
A plate of ricotta anchois is a must, the smooth creamy cheese paired with salty anchovies and topped with toasted bulghar wheat. The bread is superb and they’re generous with it; make sure to dip it in the extra virgin olive oil, which is sourced from a small family run estate where some of the wines they stock are also produced.
There aren’t that many seats to go round so you might end up disappointed, but if you do snag a table you’re in for a treat. This is not Septime in miniature but it is something special
