Apicius is – and remains – one of the classiest bars and restaurants in the city. The restaurant, housed in a magnificent 18th-century mansion, boasts an impressive 2 Michelin stars (and the prices to match). But the bar is worth visiting in and on of itself. It’s a fashionably refined space which revels in the chicest of clientele. Immune to trends the venue is handsome, low-lit and intimate, the atmosphere romantic and luxurious, the décor gorgeous, all sleek bar stools, slim white pillars, dramatic candelabra and crystal chandeliers, the service flawless. There’s a sweet little patio area overlooking the park for drinking on warm evenings. And the cocktails really hit the spot. These are some top notch drinks as befits a bar of this calibre. There’s no menu as such but the bartenders are efficiency itself and capable of whipping up any drink you might fancy. The bar snacks are impeccable too, as might be expected, dainty but delicious. You’ll definitely want to dress the part if you’re planning on paying this place a visit – preferably something with deep pockets.
