The hip, boutique Maison Champs Elysees hotel has opened itself an equally hip cocktail spot with the Blind Bar, a space that’s as stylish as the rest of the place. The bar itself is incredibly attractive, lots of matte black with an inviting open fire, elegant yet also cosy, and a terrace which is just the thing on warmer evenings. Though it’s open all day, it really comes into its own at night, with its romantic atmosphere and flattering glow; it’s the perfect place to come for a sophisticated evening. The cocktail list includes a small range of classics including a Gimlet, a variant on the Rusty Nail, a Bloody Mary, and so forth as well as their in-house drinks, Les Creations du 8, which include the Mademoiselle Cognac, a refreshing blend of the aforementioned tipple along with a splash of liqueur Saint Germain, cucumber and ginger ale; the White Shadow meanwhile pairs gin with triple sec, mezcal, pepper syrup, burlesque bitters, and lime. There’s an excellent range of champagnes and spirits to choose from too and their drinks are impeccably presented, as they should be for the price; in fact it’s perhaps this factor that keeps the place relatively quiet of an evening and makes it a good place to come as a couple for a stylish, upmarket night out.
