One of the grandest of Parisian hotels, the Royal Monceau has recently reopened its doors following a two-year revamp by Philip Starck revamp and is all the more sumptuous as a result. Look at the hotel’s Le Bar Long, a striking space by any standards. The sleek, narrow bar provides an opportunity for face-to-face interaction between bar tenders and customers as cocktails are tailored to specific tastes. The bar is also one of the first to offer tableside cocktail service in the city. It’s this level of attention to detail and service which sets this place apart from many of the other high-end cocktail lounges in the City of Lights. The room itself, curtained off from the buzz of the hotel, is light, intimate and airy with vintage glassware dotted about as decoration, emphasising the focus on quality drinks over design fripperies.
