The quirky champagne bar of the Hotel du Collectionneur, a 5 star affair not far from the Arc de Triomphe, is a deliciously whimsical thing, like a giant inflatable bubble in which you can sit, a wintertime treat of a space. By day this is the place where one can take tea, but at night it glitters as people sip flutes of quality bubbly and nibble on small plates of fancy snacks. Flanked by statues and looking out over the hotel’s elegant, fairy-lit garden, there’s something theatrical about the whole experience. Inside this feeling is perpetuated; it’s a restrained space in some ways, but it’s been leant warmth and cosiness by a number of faux fur throws. It’s intimate too with room for only around 30 or so guests, which makes it ideal for a romantic pit-stop, private despite the clear plastic walls. Prices are high but you’re paying for the package. Since they only serve champagne, it’s the kind of place to kick off a memorable evening in the city of lights rather than somewhere to hunker down for a session. It may be a little OTT, but it’s playful, indulgent and fun, the kind of thing to make a special night that little bit more special.
