The new bar by the team behind Le Baron is a temple to the delights of retro video-gaming. Hidden behind an anonymous black wall, inside you’ll find a huge blue-walled bar, stuffed with Formica tables and chairs, faux leather banquettes, parquet floors, a huge glass-fronted cupboard full of colourful toy robots, and a weirdly sculptural ceiling that aptly looks like the terrain from some 16 bit game, for the main pull here is the wall full of old school arcade games. If the thought of sinking a beer or two while indulging in an epic Pacman session is your idea of heaven, you need to pay this place a visit pronto. There are also darts and table football if those float your boat, as well as plenty more arcade classics. On the liquid front, there’s plenty of the sudsy stuff available, but they also do a surprisingly decent line in cocktails, thanks to Californian drink-smith David West. His short but thoughtful list includes a number of inventive house creations plus a few classics done well try their take on the Old Fashioned. Food-wise, they serve topping-laden pizzas and superior salads. But everything else is secondary to the gaming, the clink and glint and glee of the arcade.
