In the heart of the Halles district, the stylish O – one of Paris’ many super-hip boutique hotels – has a cocktail bar that befits such an establishment. Designed by the renowned Ora Ito, it’s a faintly futuristic space, deliciously swish, all curves and glass with a wall made up of lights which slowly change colour. There are chic green banquettes, lots of pale blonde wood, striking honeycomb-style shelving and a sleek minimal, Asian aesthetic to the place.
The bar itself stocks a small selection of spirits including many original and unusual choices. There’s an Asian influence to the menu, the cocktails all feature bold flavours like coriander and ginger. There are plenty of house made syrups and infusions on offer and the bar tenders are happy to craft a cocktail on-demand, to meet your personal taste. Choose your base spirit and let them create something bespoke and fabulous.
Their newly instituted Thursday after work sessions should prove popular with stylish local crowd as well as guests at the hotel (which is equally visually playful, a fun urban hideaway, ideal for a weekend retreat). The service is effiecient and knowledgeable, and given the look of the place and the standard of drinks, the prices are eminently reasonable, at least by Paris hotel bar standards.
