Café
Le Bal
Paris-Montmartre and the North
May 11, 2018
This café-gallery space on a quiet street near Place de Clichy serves a superior brunch. Run by a pair of former Rose Bakery cooks, they offer above average modern British cooking and also serve some of the best coffee in town. The space is light, white and modern, relatively minimal in design with art on the walls and a changing blackboard menu. There’s an array of charcuterie and cheeses to choose from alongside an interesting wine list and some more substantial British dishes made with quality ingredients. They do a proper Bloody Mary as well as a good range of brunch dishes like eggs and bacon, porridge and house made scones. These and other tasty cakes and baked goods sit temptingly on the counter. Their French toast is all kinds of yum and it’s worth trying their more ambitious plates. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the space works well both as an arty coffee spot by day and a cool place to hang out in the evenings.
