Paris-Opera and Les Halles
May 11, 2018
The change in character of Pigalle – for a long time regarded as one of Paris’ less salubrious areas – continues apace. The arrival of hip Soviet-themed cocktail joint, The Kremlin continues this process. Housed in a former strip club, the bar has been completely revamped. It’s now a shabby-stylish space, carefully furnished with well-placed flea market finds, hip in an understated way. The Soviet theme isn’t laid on too thickly; there are a handful of vodka-based drinks but the Russian spirit doesn’t dominate. The cocktails are nicely-judged creations, the atmosphere is lively, self-aware but never overbearing.
