One of the strongest signals yet that Paris’ Pigalle neighborhood is indeed becoming one of the trendiest spots in the City of Light, the ‘bed and beverage’ Grand Pigalle Hotel has opened, bringing with it the cocktail expertise of the Experimental Cocktail Club. Revered for their mixing and shaking work the world over, the Experimental Cocktail Club began in Paris but has since grown to have outlets in London and New York as well. Paris is where it all started, so it only made sense that the team would open its first hotel here. The cocktail and wine bar – called Wine & Dine –  is located on the ground floor and puts forth a greatest hits collection of the ECC’s efforts in other venues along with a few fresh twists specific to Pigalle. These venue-specific selections are meant to evoke the free-spirited vibe that makes the neighborhood special nowadays, not necessarily glancing back to the past. Among the highlights are the Blood and Sand; whisky, Italian vermouth, black cherry liqueur, orange juice, and bitters, and the Panamerican Clipper; Calvados, absinthe, and lemon juice. When the bar closes, you can continue the odyssey in your room as their premium take on the hotel minibar just has to be seen to be believed. In fact, cocktail culture permeates nearly every corner of the Grand Pigalle, from hidden martini glasses woven into the carpets to replica pineapple cocktail garnishes as adornments on the guestroom doors.
