Paris-Opera and Les Halles

There can be few things more romantic than sipping a glass of champagne in the sunshine in Paris. The terrace at the recently opened le Patio is a prime spot for enjoying such a moment. The restaurant and lounge bar serves an inventive menu of Corsican and Italian-inspired dishes and its quiet courtyard patio is the perfect place for relaxing with friends in the early evening, sipping wine as the sun sets. The surrounding buildings are tall ensuring the spot is sheltered from the hum and bustle of the city outside and the greenery helps to put you in the holiday mood. There are a range of cocktails, priced in keeping with the area, but while these are well made a glass of fizz seems better suited to the atmosphere, that or a classic French aperitif, like a crisp Kir or a classic Ricard. The staff are efficient and friendly and generous plates of olives, crisps and nuts will appear at your elbow as you sip your drink. It’s a calm part of town so the bar seems to attract a mainly local, after work crowd. If the weather doesn’t play ball, there’s a hip, stylish inside bar with red and tan décor and occasional live jazz and DJ nights.
