As the name attests, Le Little is not the most spacious of night spots on Avenue de la République, rather it’s a cool, characterful space, with a scattering of rickety chairs and tables spilling out onto a popular pavement terrace. High ceilings make up for the lack of floor space and the vintage brick and wood interior has considerable charm. The crowd is an agreeably mixed bunch as at the best local bars, with everyone out to enjoy the cheap and cheerful beers, the serviceable wine and the small range of cocktails on offer. It’s the atmosphere of the place that really seals the deal and, as the night rumbles on, people pack into the narrow room, with drinks in hand, to listen to the skilled local DJs do their thing. The cocktails are decent and potent if not exactly refined, but this isn’t the place to go for serious displays of mixology and molecular innovation, rather it’s a lively yet laid-back neighbourhood space, chilled-out and carefree. Prices are fair particularly during the extended happy hour period – and a cool kind of club-like vibe evolves later in the evening, as the music kicks up a gear and the people get into the party spirit.
