Think of your two favourite words how about chocolate and cocktails? To us that’s the perfect pairing (or one of them certainly), and if you’re inclined to agree then this lovely little venue is just the place for you though it’s probably best avoided if you’re counting the calories, as you’d have to have some serious willpower to avoid all the treats on offer. Located in a handsome Left Bank arcade, Un Dimanche à Paris is the brainchild of French chocolatier Pierre Cluizel. The venue is not just a chocolate shop, but a tea salon, restaurant and cocktail lounge rolled into one (though the take home chocolates are superior quality, so you might find yourself splurging even if you just pop in for a drink). It’s a sleek, airy and attractive space with blonde floors and contemporary furniture, where you can sup on chocolat chaud and delectable pastries downstairs or partake of one of their chocolate-based cocktails. These drinks are a step above the over-sweet, dessert-like concoctions that you’ll find in many other bars; the cocktails have been designed to celebrate the richness and complexity of chocolate. The bar tenders are knowledgeable and will be happy to tailor a cocktail to your tastes. The venue also holds regular patisserie classes if you’re keen to pick up some tips from the experts. The food luckily isn’t all about the sweet stuff there’s a decent range of savoury mains on offer in the restaurant itself, though there’s a lot of cocoa on the menu as well (try the prawns with cocoa and herbs risotto) and of course the desserts are to die for.
