If you enjoyed your school days well enough, but always thought that the one thing missing from the educational experience was a cocktail bar, well, Perth’s The Classroom is definitely the right bar for you. Earning exceptional marks for creating an authentic theme, The Classroom captivates all with its decor full of school artifacts that take you back, and shakes up some of the finest cocktails in Perth to take along with you on your nostalgic journey.
You can almost hear the bells ringing as you enter The Classroom, as you are greeted with vintage school desks, bicycle-inspired lighting fixtures, bookshelves, poster boards, and a beautiful bar with shelves made of old metal lockers. Since most educational institutions in Australia didn’t offer Mixology 101, The Classroom picks up the slack to educate all in the subject of fine cocktails, dividing their menu into three sections: art (cocktails that feature a flair for the dramatic in their aroma, technique, or presentation), history (classic vintage cocktails), and science (envelope-pushing molecular mixology). A few of our favorite lessons are the Cheerleader (gin, orange-liqueur, pink grapefruit, and carbonation) from the art department, history lesson Charles Vane (premium dark rum, cherry liqueur, treacle syrup, and cherry bitters), and science experiment Smoked Manhattan (premium bourbon, vermouth, whiskey bitters, and sandalwood smoke).
As far as extracurricular activities, The Classroom’s canteen serves fantastically fun bar food, and there is also an extensive craft beer and wine list on offer. And for those looking to continue their education, naturally, The Classroom offers fun and educational cocktail classes, perfect for special occasions and outings.
