In a city known, rightly or wrongly, for dive bars fuelled by beer, Vintage sets itself apart from the minute you walk through the door and spot the corkscrew hanging there. Inside you’ll find a wall of crosshatched corks and a scattering of empty wine cases. The chandelier is even made of empty bottles: wine, we gather, is what matters to these people. This is proved true by the wine list which boasts some 60 by-the-glass choices. Overseen by sommelier and so-owner Delphine Evenchik, this is a clearly serious list, with a number of exciting and unusual selections. The brasserie menu has been put together with a similar level of care and they offer the now obligatory wine-pairings with your meal.
