Perched on the 19th floor of the Park Hyatt Philadelphia, XIX’s biggest asset is its amazing view out over the city’s rooftops. Like all similarly vertiginous establishments the view does tend to dominate, but this stylish bar and restaurant has more to offer. It boasts an extensive wine-list and has gained a reputation for its seafood dishes, which are fresh and impeccably prepared. The dining room, with its domed ceiling, white drapery and pearl chandeliers, is a gorgeous and elegant space, one of the most attractive in Philly, with a raw bar full of marine goodies at its centre. The clientele is upmarket, made up of a scattering of tourists rightfully admiring the view and locals capitalising on the romantic atmosphere this place effortlessly generates. Service can be scatty and prices are high but remember you’re paying for the whole package.
