A sophisticated gentleman’s club combined whiskey library, Multnomah Whiskey is a well-known and loved sanctuary for drink lovers. Holding a library of roughly 1,200 whiskeys, 600 spirits and a fine wine and beer selection, it’s easy to see why there are queue’s here on a Friday night, it can be up to an hour long! Multnomah offer exclusive membership (at a steep price) that allows you to pre-book seating and gain access to special offers and events, but it is also open to the public daily. This 19th century London style gentleman’s club will honestly make you feel as if you have stepped back through time!
Above the huge rectangular bar sits a beautiful crystal chandelier that eliminates the room with reflections of the crackling fireplace. Two walls out of four are completely covered in rows of whiskeys and spirits that can only be accessed via a vintage brass library style ladder. All major and even lesser distilled spirits are served in special vintage glassware to really complete their gentleman’s club vibe.
What sets Multnomah apart from other gentleman’s lounges is the fact that you are greeted and seated by smart looking ‘waiters’ upon arrival. Unlike most bars you cannot just wander the floor in hopes of finding yourself a seat as the majority of the time their members have already pre-booked. Once you have been taken to one of their chesterfield coaches or aged leather seats, do take a moment to speak to the bartender and gain some knowledge on their vast selection of drinks! To save a little time a cocktail we recommend is the ‘saint ambros’ which is a combination of vodka, avua prata cachaça, lemon, brandy, honey and pink peppercorn.
