Located near the River Douro, with sweeping views over the
hills and bridges that make Porto’s skyline so special, Botequim Nostalgic is
one part tapas restaurant, and one part cocktail bar. The atmosphere is clean
and bright at the bar, with wooden chairs complete with stylish slats combining
with oversized white umbrellas to set a ‘sophisticated beach club’ tone to
things. Most of the venue is located outside, but even if you don’t catch Porto
on one of its signature warm days, there are heaters on hand to keep the
temperature permanently pleasant.
On the tapas side of things, you will find a fun and fresh menu
made of delicacies such as squid, olives, spiced cheese, roasted sausage, and
cod, among others. The drinks all tend to have a sunny disposition, with red
and white wines and sangria both available by the jar or the cup, and a fun
roster of cocktails to keep you cool.
Gin and tonic is an especially popular concoction at Botequim Nostalgic,
with refreshing mixes made from artisan gin brands and flavors like strawberry,
mint, apple, and raspberries making an appearance. Simply put, Botequim Nostalgic is the perfect
place in Porto to spend an afternoon sipping cocktails in the sun – just don’t
be surprised if that afternoon accidentally turns into night.
