Era Uma Vez Em Paris
May 11, 2018
Translating to ‘once upon a time in Paris’, and no doubt taking inspiration from its address on the Porto’s grand Rua Galeria de Paris, Era Uma Vez Em Paris is a beguiling combination of cool bohemian hangout, café, and bar. Against the odds, it manages to be a master of all three, and a stop here is fast becoming compulsory for all Porto locals and tourists alike.
Home to an alluring decor full of bold shades of red and plenty of vintage touches, Era Uma Vez Em Paris does its best to take you back to Jazz Age Paris. Black-and-white photos on the wall, antique lamps with frilly shades, swaying curtains, marble-topped tables surrounded by both leather and velvet-seated chairs are just a few of the mood-setting adornments.
During the afternoons, Era Uma Vez Em Paris is sedate and sophisticated as coffee and light lunches (think fresh sandwiches, soups, and paninis) take center stage, but at night it becomes a beehive of socializing and imbibing. The crowd is as eclectic as the decor, managing to attract Porto’s philosophical thinkers, jet-setters, party people, and everything in between. They are kept refreshed with caipirinhas, mojitos, and sangria (just a few of the bar’s most popular nighttime pours), in addition to a wide range of red, white, and, naturally, port wine.
