Attractively renovated in 2002, this appealing American-style cocktail lounge adjacent to Prague’s most renowned high-end shopping street is decked out in a suitably sleek but minimal fashion. Fancy design flourishes may be thin on the ground, but that’s because, at Bugsy’s, the drinks do the talking. The smartly attired staff (think: crisp white shirts and black bowties) really know their stuff and, in a city better known for its beer, the cocktail list is enticingly detailed try the sharp Cili-lici with its chilli kick or the sweet but not sickly so Passion-tini. Rum drinkers will also be in high heaven after seeing the spirits menu, featuring the best drops from as far afield as Cuba, Australia and Hawaii. The whiskey selection is just as comprehensive, as is the variety of top-shelf fizz. There’s cigars on offer too, along with a somewhat high-brow bar menu including Siberian caviar, fois gras and sushi (though they do nachos, too). As you can imagine, Bugsy’s is about as far from a typical Prague stag hangout as it gets. Favoured instead by local business people and discerning visitors, it’s a great place to start your evening lingering over a drink or two, watching as the bartenders take their time finessing their inventive creations. It’s also worth noting that the entrance to Bugsy’s is located just around the corner on Kostecna Street look for the bar’s name spelled out in mosaic tiles in front of the door.
