Offering a glance into Quebec’s past, Café-Bar Artefact at the Auberge Saint-Antoine hotel is one of the finest places in the entire city for cocktails, all served with a slice of history. The space has been designed with both style and comfort in mind, with all seating being soft and couch-esque (with some even positioned next to a cozy fireplace). A high-top table runs through the middle of the bar/restaurant with a showstopping lighting fixture hanging above that features spindly tree branch features. The name of the space comes from the fact that there are, in fact, artifacts from Quebec’s history scattered around, spanning six different eras of the city’s unique history to be precise. Yes, its casual yet cool setting makes Café-Bar Artefact the ideal spot for everything from laidback lunch get-togethers to romantic evening cocktails. Speaking of the libations, Café-Bar Artefact has scoured the globe (and the province of Quebec) to put together an impressive collection of champagnes, wines, spirits, aperitifs, digestifs, and beers. The cocktails have received several accolades, and it’s no surprise with combinations like the warming Next to the Fireplace – premium gin, dry vermouth, aquavit, lime juice, rosemary and cranberry syrup – and the punchy Clockwork Orange – Italian aperitif, premium bourbon, orange & lime juice, maple syrup, and a secret blend of ancient Chinese bitters. Live jazz is a fixture here, and we can’t think of any better way to while away a chilly winter night.
