In a city known for its cutting edge bars and clubs it’s some praise to be regarded as the best of them. At least that’s how Reykjavik scenesters rate Hverfisbarinn, a café-bar next to the National Theatre that looks a little like a forest sauna from the outside. Cultured coffee shop by day, hipster DJ bar by night, the drab light wood entrance gives way to a dazzlingly sexy interior: cute red buckets seats, Formica tables, glass DJ booths and the clean, spacious Scandinavian-style design lines that Reykjavik does so well. Drinks are pricey of course (this is the city of the US$15 beer), but with dozens of green-eyed blondes and snow-skinned brunettes around you, you’ll be glad to break the bank for a glass of Turi and Red Bull. While you’re at it, get the girls in one too!
