A traditional bar and restaurant in Riga, Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs offers a slice of authentic Latvian life through its beer, food and fun folk concerts.

In the heart of Riga’s historic old town, Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs is keeping the folk history of Latvia alive and well, while also serving some of the best food and drinks in the entire country. A cavernous-yet-cozy basement space complete with arching brick walls, dripping candles, and vintage posters, Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs makes a fantastic first impression. After your eyes are dazzled with what you see on the walls, your ears are next, as concerts take the stage here most nights of the week. Performances often feature the finest traditional Latvian folk acts, which really gets the local crowd going, also giving all visitors a fun insight into the local culture. In fact, don’t be surprised if you end up singing along to every word, even if you don’t speak a word of Latvian.  Priding itself as a proper Latvian kitchen and tavern, the food here manages to be both rustic/traditional and modern all at once, and very generous for the price. It is the beer that we love at Folkklubs ALA Pagrabs for, as they have the largest choice of beer on draught in the entire city. Yes, there are nearly thirty in assorted flavors and styles (you’ll find everything from light and dark ales to wheats and cranberry-flavored brews), in addition to a range of ciders. Wine is also a speciality here, with many berry and fruit varieties being locally sourced, and if you prefer cocktails, the bar stocks an impressive spectrum of fine international spirit brands.
