Night Out

A late night bar popular with Riga's most dedicated revelers, Puce has quickly created a reputation that rivals the legendary venue it replaced.

There are a couple of things you should know right off the bat about Puce.  First, ‘puce’ means owl in Latvian. Second, Puce is located in the former spot of a legendary Latvian nightclub, one that kept the city dancing for two decades before closing its doors. Alright, well now you shouldn’t be surprised in the least when we tell you that Puce is known for staying up very late and for knowing how to let loose.

Not quite a club and not quite a bar, Puce walks this fine (and we must say, fun) line to absolute perfection. If you get there early enough, you’re going to be able to savor a quality cocktail or two and talk quietly among your friends, and in fact, the bar staff here has quickly become known as one of the city’s finest. You’ll have time to appreciate the aesthetics, which have been arranged by an award-winning Latvian designer, and the fact they create a playful-yet-industrial ambiance and maybe even catch a soulful soloist singing. Later on in the night though, a fun buzz descends on the venue, and the scene turns positively ’party’, as DJs take to the stage, beer pong gets played, and even the occasional ‘all you can drink’ promotion gets going. Yes, the magic of Puce is that it manages to be all things to all people, and we hope it lasts at least 20 years.
