A graceful gem that has stood the test of time, the Copacabana Palace and its romantic piano bar may just be the best cocktail experience in all of Rio.

Grand, opulent, and as much a part of Copacabana as the sand and the surf itself, the Copacabana Palace Hotel is one of the finest places in all of Rio de Janeiro to stay – or to just enjoy a drink. The Art Deco gem of a hotel towers above the world famous beach, and just one look at its exterior brings to mind the glory days of ‘Rat-Pack’ Rio and the shimmering glamour of yesteryear. Luckily for us, the hotel is just as grand now as it was back then, and at the elegant piano bar, you can soak up – and sip down – the best of this atmosphere. The low key and oh-so-classy piano bar is ideal for afternoon lounging, with an exquisite list of wines, classic cocktails, tropical tipples, and aperitifs all dispensed by a debonair staff that will make you feel like a celebrity. They get plenty of practice, as this bar has always has been a discrete gathering place for A-Listers, and don’t be surprised at all if you spot one or two hiding behind the piano bar’s graceful palms. The Copacabana Palace house pianist tickles the ivories each day, adding to the enchanting ambiance and making for the perfect soundtrack to slowly sipping cocktails. The piano bar closes relatively early, but the fun just moves to the Bar du Copa, also located inside in the hotel, which is home to a world class club experience featuring a stunning light fixture that brilliantly emulates the sparkling night sky.
