Located on the lush fringes of Rio De Janeiro’s beautiful botanical garden, Sobe has quickly become one of the trendiest spots in the city for refreshing al fresco cocktails accompanied by delicious bar bites. Home to one of the finest rooftops in the entire city – even featuring a view to the world famous Christ the Redeemer statue – the bar is the ideal spot for cooling off in the sizzling city of Rio. Tucked away behind the facade of a gorgeous garden-style house overflowing with character, from the street, any sign of Sobe is completely hidden. Its presence is only revealed once you enter under a weathered arched doorway and colorful shutters, and scale a set of steps to the roof terrace. It’s here where Sobe reveals its secrets, as dark and light woods playfully blend with bright green palm prints and assorted pastels all under dangling fairy lights to create an ambiance that will have you in the mood to have a drink. As pleasing to the eyes as the terrace is, when you gaze upon the cocktail menu – which was created by one of Rio’s most renowned mixology teams – you will be even more impressed. Caipirinhas of assorted flavors like the 3000 Years – vodka, strawberry, lychee, and basil – are poured alongside cocktails like the Tri Minerim – cacacha, guava, lemon, and brown sugar – and a host of international beers and spritzes. The gastro fare is creative too with a range of crispy appetizers and gourmet burgers on offer. When the sun goes down, illuminated palms just outside Sobe’s walls provide an enchanting backdrop, and even if it rains, Sobe has a retractable roof they roll up to keep the party going.
