Some things transcend fashion. No one could accuse Tiki’s of being particularly hip or stylish but it has an atmosphere you can’t argue with. It’s a fun, lively place, a favoured hang out of local artistic types and musicians. Rotterdam’s creative crowd like Tiki’s because it’s unashamedly cheesy and kitsch. The place is decked out in Hawaiian style with tropical walls, an over-abundance of bamboo and an old-school jukebox in the corner. It’s a good spot to kick off an evening on the tiles with a colourful cocktail. While there’s an undeniable touch of irony in the air its not the death knell it can sometimes be and the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere is the thing you’re most likely to remember. The bar gets busier as the evening wears on, with some people gearing themselves up for a spot of dancing in the club next door, and others just happy to chill and chat with a few drinks all night.
