Drawing on the riches of the local area’s farms and the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Saltbox is showcase of the best things to eat and drink in San Diego. Boasting a menu of cutting-edge cocktails and a huge selection of tequila and rum, it’s a great place to grab a drink – though you’ll definitely want to try the food too. They also stock a huge range of local craft beers. The Mezacalifornication is a smoky-citrus mix of mezcal, yuzu, simple syrup, and aperol, while The Capone blends bourbon with balsamic reduction, basil, and ginger beer. The farm-to-table menu includes Brussel sprouts cooked with bacon, mustard, and caramelized onion soubise, skirt steak with hominy relish, crisp tortillas, salsa roja, pickled onion, carrot and radish, and a seriously good burger served in brioche bun, with bacon, cheddar, lto, grain mustard aioli, and pickles. You’ll want to save some space for their chocolate cherry cheese cake if you can. Their list of Californian wines is also well worth exploring and the whole place has a nice vibe to it.
