Though it takes its name from San Diego’s notorious tenderloin district, this stylish new club is the antithesis of seedy. Everything about this place is shining and chic. The venue is divided into restaurant, bar and club with a rooftop lounge to crown things in style. The decor is detail-driven and pretty damn impressive: from the sunken granite-top bar on the main floor, carrying on up to the shimmering rooftop space. We were particularly taken with the dramatic water wall that flows down through all three levels – this place knows how to make an impression. In terms of drinks, Stingaree hopes to steer its clientele towards wine rather than the uniquitous bottle of spirits, a decision that encapsulates its refreshing approach.
