Named for the Aztec goddess of agave, this North Park temple to all things tequila stocks more than 200 bottles of the stuff alongside a wide range of smoky mezcals; Cantina Mayahuel also offers one of the longest and, well, happiest happy hours around, running from 12-6 on weekdays. During this time you can enjoy some of their seriously good margaritas for $5 a pop as well as a great range of tasty tacos. Their cocktails are served unadorned save for a salted rim, and they pack a punch, letting the base spirit shine through.  The food menu also includes tostados, tamales, tortas, salads, and various daily specials – their pork adobada is pretty awesome, ditto their mole rojo and fish tacos – there’s ice cold Modelo and a small list of wines available too. The décor is rustic and homely, the room decked out with lots of warm wood, the atmosphere is welcoming, there’s a charming little patio out the back, and the tequila flows freely, what more could you want.
