Dress up and enjoy an evening out at Top of the Mark in San Francisco. This stylish cocktail lounge is on the 19th floor of the Mark Hopkins Hotel.

Really can there be a better sounding address than 1, Nob Hill? We don’t think so, and nor do the patrons of this San Francisco institution. If you’re looking for an excuse to dress up and enjoy an evening on the town in style, then this is the place for you. Top of the Mark is more than just a stylish cocktail lounge, it’s a landmark. Perched 19 stories up at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins hotel, this place has been thrilling both the tourists and the locals with its wraparound views of the city for more than seven decades, and still exudes a timeless style. Whether you’re here to eat lunch, brunch or dine in style, there’s much to take in, including the famous 100 martinis cocktail menu. Soak up an evening of swing or cha-cha-cha whilst sipping exotic cocktails like the Earthquake or the Golden Gate as you watch the sunset and take in the best views in the city. Be warned, reservations are required for dining if you’re popping in for a light bite or a drink the policy is first come, first served, and it’s a popular spot so you may not be able to get a seat at peak times. There’s a champagne brunch Sundays and live entertainment most evenings as well as events (including, occasionally, a Tarot reading wine tasting so you can find out your future while sipping fine wines only in San Francisco!) Unsurprisingly it’s one of the top spots in the city to pop the question (so much so, it has a dedicated ‘romance’ menu for nervous beaus and belles to woo their partners with). You can’t expect a place like this to be cheap, but a view like that is worth a premium.
