Uno Dos Tacos
San Francisco-Financial District

The permanent incarnation of popular pop-up taqueria in the former Pesce space is a lively and vibrant space serving tasty tacos, burritos, salads and lunch plates. The décor is a blend of industrial and something more colourful, blending cement and cinder blocks with a brighter, zingier aesthetic. There are long communal tables which run the length of the space, as well as a number of two-tops and counter seating. There’s also a courtyard space with picnic tables, for al fresco lunching and munching. Drinks err on the potent side and there are excellent happy hour specials ($4 beers and $5 bites) which make us happy. Cocktails include El Vampiro a bright red blend of beet-infused tequila with smoky mezcal, honey, and chartreuse, and the Mexican Gimlet, a zingy yet herbal blend of gin, tequila, cucumber, cilantro, chilli, and lime. The Las Cazuelas, a punchy four ounces of tequila mixed with citrus and Mexican soda, is a seriously strong drink if that’s your thing (it’s certainly ours). On the food-front, the beef tongue and braised pork tacos are well worth your time and a great example of what these guys do well.
