This popular Italian restaurant and bar has a speakeasy feel. Capo’s specialises in Chicago-style pies but it also has a fine list of handcrafted cocktails from which to choose. From the outside, with it plain brick frontage and green awning, it looks like a standard mom and pop place, nothing to write home about but they’re serving some cracking drinks here. Cocktails include the Wise Guy, a mix of whisky, white pepper, lemon, agave nectar and oregano, and The Kentucky Mule, which pairs house-made ginger beer with bourbon and bitters. There’s an option to make your own bespoke Old Fashioned and they offer a range of whiskey flights for the whiskey-curious among you. There are classic cocktails too – well-made Negronis and Sazeracs. As you might have guessed they stock a huge range of whiskeys and ryes as well as other aperitifs and libations. The Italian leaning wine list is a cut above too. The food menu includes bourbon glazed pork chops and house-mad sausages, but it’s the pizzas that make this place what it is. Their deep dish pies are divine and laden with quality toppings. Try the award-winning Dillinger, made with three cheeses, vodka cream sauce, bacon, garlic, artichoke hearts and chicken. We dare you to have dessert after that.
