Moxy Beer Garden
San Francisco-Outer San Francisco
May 11, 2018
This attractive Berkeley beer garden has a lot going for it. Owned by the same husband-and-wife team behind Hobnob in Alameda, Moxy is a spacious venue, housed in what was the Casa Vino wine bar, with an airy main bar area and a large covered outdoor patio complete with pavement heaters. The bar boasts several craft beers on tap, from Black Diamond, Thirsty Bear, and 21st Amendment amongst other local breweries, and a good range of bottled beers, both domestic and imported. Their white sangria is also worth a try when the sun is shining and there’s a compact but decent wine list. If you’re hungry, the kitchen serves superior burgers; their meat is well sourced and sustainable, and they also include Moroccan lamb and blackened turkey options on the menu if you want something a bit different. They even serve ‘vegan buffalo wings’, essentially fried cauliflower in hot sauce, as well as a wicked patty melt. Service is friendly and the vibe is nice and relaxed, making this a very welcome addition to the Berkeley bar scene, particularly for those who share their passion for beer.
