Just as Japanese food is intended to appeal to the eye as much as the taste buds, so Yabany, Sao Paulo’s delightfully bright Japanese bar and restaurant, has been designed for maximum visual appeal. It’s a playful colourful space, all oranges and purples, warm and welcoming. The bar is a shimmering thing, pink tiles with a glossy black top. You can perch here with a drink if you choose or sit in traditional cross-legged fashion at the low tables. The kitchen serves superb sushi and other Japanese dishes, noodles, tempura and the like, all made using the freshest ingredients. Staff are friendly and the place is always buzzing with a lively young crowd.
