Cicchetti has recently come into its own. The Mediterranean-inspired bar which occupies the building behind Serafina – one of Seattle’s best-loved and most romantic dining spots and is owned by the same team, has recently acquired a new bar manager and an exciting new cocktail programme with a focus on house-made tinctures and intriguing flavour-pairings. For dedicated drinkers, their new ß-Cocktail Masters Programmeß- showcases the menu of fresh and inventive tipples, drinks such as the Midnight and Chocolate, a mix of cognac, chocolate wine, and house made caraway tincture, the Safranbolu, a complex blend of gin, sweet vermouth, Velvet Falernum and house made fenugreek-saffron tincture, and the subtly spiced Arabian Sunrise which pairs dark rum with triple sec, orange juice and house made Garam Masala. The Masters Programme works like a reward scheme with awards along the way. At the 40 drink mark you become a ß-Top Shelf Masterß- which allows you to collaborate on a signature drink for Cicchetti’s menu. Cicchetti are little Venetian snacks, a variant on tapas, and the bar serves a wide array of these alongside a range of tasty small plates (we particularly like the sound of the Merguez sausage with braised octopus). The wine list is more wide-reaching than that of Serafina, which concentrates mainly on Italian wines and the whole place has a relaxed yet stylish vibe.
