The Elysian Bar is the latest venture from the team behind the Elysian Brewing Company. Here the focus is on cocktails as well as beer although it’s no surprise there’s also an impressive choice of brews on the menu too. The bar is supremely well-stocked, with premium spirits and they make their own brand of gin too. Food, beer, and cocktails are given equal weight, and their food isn’t standard pub fare, mere beer fodder. The menu includes steaks, chops, and pastas, with many ingredients sourced from the nearby Pike Place Market. Expect an often-changing array of fresh dishes and a crudo list too. The bartenders read like a who’s who of talented folk from some of the city’s best cocktail joints and this is reflected in the standard of the drinks. Try The Stargazer, a sophisticated yet simple mix of rye, Lillet blanc, and Angostura bitters. The venue itself is handsome, with a vast wall of exposed brick and lots of large booths for lounging in. A grand staircase leads up to more intimate seating options in the loft area, the perfect place to linger with a drink or three.
